Posing Tip: Become a Shape Shifter

Quigs here!

I am too excited to drop my long-awaited posing guide TOMORROW, so I decided to give you a little taste ahead of launch day….for FREE! Below is an exact excerpt from my 56 page guide. In this shared section, I discuss how to make your images look more interesting through creating shapes with your body.

Now, let’s get started!

There are three main shapes I like to replicate when I’m posing. They are the triangle, the s-shape, and the arch. It’s easier to show these techniques than describe them because the description is pretty much in the name. Below is a page directly from my posing guide.

I also want to show you how I utilize these techniques IRL via past campaigns I have shot. Studying images created by others is a fantastic way to learn what you like and don’t like when it comes to posing. Do this often.  Can you spot the shapes I’m making below?

Understanding technicalities of posing are just a tiny fraction of what makes up a successful POSE. It is easy to think of posing as being pretty straightforward, but creating a compelling pose encompasses more than just what is happening with your body. When someone asks, “how did you learn to pose like that?” I hear, “how do I get comfortable in front of the camera?” This guide is the answer to that inquiry.

The Pose in all actuality is like a cherry on top of a cake. That is not added until the end of a long day of baking!

What are you most excited for in the posing guide? Also, want to get the Photoshoot Checklist I use to make sure I’m not forgetting anything as I’m running out the door? Sign up below and I’ll send it your way!!
