How I’m Practicing Self-Care

Quigs here!

I recently shared how I self-care on my newsletter, but I also want it to live here on the blog! It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the world around us that we ignore how our mind and body are feeling. I’ve always wanted to be open about my own journey with mental wellness, so here are four ways I like to practice self-care while at home:

1. Establish a good morning routine. I've talked about my A.M. rituals before, and I can't emphasize how effective it is in jumpstarting my entire day! If you don't want to commit to an entire routine, pick one thing that you're going to do for yourself every morning. Make your favorite cup of coffee, journal, meditate, DANCE - think of it as a gift from you to you.

2. Get ready. Whenever I feel like I’m getting in a slump, I do my hair and put on a cute outfit. Something about getting ready makes me feel ready for the day. Since I still don’t want to take a long time, I love to use Pantene’s Never Tell Dry Shampoo Spray to soak up oil and give me volume. After, I spray their Mist Behaving Dry Conditioner Mist to the ends and work my fingers through the ends of my hair, up and out. It gives me a cute (and quick!) ‘90s look that pairs perfect with any outfit! To check out the full tutorial, head to my IG post here!

3. Stay connected to loved ones. I've always talked to my family on FaceTime, but I started doing it with some of my friends recently, and it has bonded us in such an amazing way. Reaching out to others helps make self-isolation not feel so isolating. Try playing a fun game over FT or start a book club that has weekly calls.

4. Keep your professional and personal lives separate. For those who are working from home, the lines between work and home have blurred. If you feel like you're not being productive enough, I want you to remember you are doing the best you can, and that's something to celebrate! I like to set a timeframe for when I'm "on" at work. That way, I have the structure of the work day without feeling guilty for never leaving my bed.
